The Allred/Elliott flock is approaching 20 years in existence producing show lambs and breeding stock that have withstood the test of time.  Championship banners have been earned at all competitive levels throughout the country and we are proud of the success of our program.  We have worked diligently to utilize the highest quality breeding stock to build a line-bred, predictable breeding program that not only works for us but others as well.  We are particularly proud of the wins generated by those breeders who continue to have faith in our genetic base, as this we feel, is the true “test” of any program.  Many of our clients purchase breeding stock year after year after year…simply because they work and produce winners for them!

Our Flock

Our flock is based from the prominent Cabaniss and Hancock flocks.  Since the inception, we have emphasized skeletal quality, rib design and conformational purity without forgetting about the coveted carcass traits necessary to win wether shows.  As the old adage goes…”there are many roads to town,” we just chose the path that began with quality and structure. We then slowly added the power aspect and did not succumb to the structural flaws and common look that coincides when selection is based purely upon terminal merit.  The genetic books read that muscle and bone are highly heritable traits and can be noticeably infused into a breeding program in one generation.  We here at Allred/Elliott feel we have a product that is powerful in build yet neat to look at.  The evidence on our “Breeders Success” page and our “Winners” page also back-up there ability to perform.  We will put our track record against any.

Currently

With the current push in some arenas to make show lambs look more like the quick maturing, stout, miniature show steers of yester-year, this trend has left many breeders searching for a niche in the industry and/or a direction to grab a hold of.  Yet, Allred/Elliott’s vision is as clear today as it was nearly two decades ago…sheep with quality, muscle, and structure never goes out of style.  We believe in raising sheep with good production traits.  Lambing ease, maternal ability, and docility in the lambing barn all add to any operation’s bottom line.  Our cattle friends have grown tired of performing C-sections and the increased death toll and decreased reproductive efficiency on their cow herd created by raising coarse boned, round muscled and poorly structured show steers.  The reproductive problems that occur following a rigorous delivery created by extra skull and foot size are just not practical from a production agricultural standpoint.  The championship banners in the steer barn are currently handed to skeletally functional, high quality, clean boned, productive cattle with adequate muscle.  Our friends in the cattle barn have already been through the fire and have realized that a balance of many good traits is much harder to create than to place total selection emphasis on one or two easily inherited traits.  We believe that a champion should be the hardest to create, with the most positive things, not simply the biggest butted or heaviest boned.  I can assure you, we at Allred/Elliott are steadfast in our beliefs and will continue to try and blend the many necessary qualities that all champions should possess.  We are excited about the future of our program and the entire club lamb industry.  We enjoy the challenges of the business and the desire to breed the “great one” still motivates us.  Hence, we will continue our pursuit.  We live by this motto at our place…”the harder we work, the luckier we get”.  We work hard at breeding good sheep that we hope can one day be named a champion or create a “stud ram” that can positively impact the industry. We cordially invite everyone to come by and appraise our program and assess our maternal base.  They are the backbone of any strong program.
